There are two types of skin aging: extrinsic and intrinsic. Inherent aging happens in everyone. Extrinsic aging is brought on by external variables, most notably UV radiation in the sun and tanning beds, which can lead to prematurely aged skin. This accounts for up to 90% of what we think of as “standard” skin aging. Among the major causes that infants’ skin seems so great is that it hasn’t had time to develop substantial sun damage. What’s promising is that it is preventable by lathering on sunscreen whenever you’ll be exposed to sunlight’s harsh rays (that contains overcast days!), and choosing for self-tanner versus jumping into a tanning bed whenever you’re looking to warm up your skin tone.
UVA rays are equally strong year round, meaning you have to be wearing a wide spectrum SFP 30 or greater regular. Sunblock is non-negotiable, but there are additional practices that will help ensure you hit adulthood with a high amount of your baby-soft skin whole. Aponte breaks it down:
If you’re a preteen, there are three main ways to adopt and preserve your youthful complexion. You should use sunblock consistently to all sun-exposed skin. Second, eat a healthy, well balanced diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables , which have essential nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants to help protect skin from environmental damage. Finally, wash your face (concentrating on any oily or acne-prone regions) twice a day to remove any dirt, oil, cosmetics, or other substances that build up before they are able to irritate or damage your skin in the long run.
If you’re a teenager, continue the fundamental skincare habits listed above and make sure you get enough sleep.
